“And now a word from your poet: Emerson believed that every word was once a great poem. Perhaps, then, every object was once a great symbol. Could it be that each hair, then, is a map leading to sunken treasures? My poems celebrate the wonder, sadness, confusion and joy of the human experience.
Outside is a secret key that contains spiritual answers found in every day life; and not solely relegated to books, various philosophies, or dream interpretations. Rather, an examination of one’s daily conscious life and beliefs can lead to great insights about existence and the self.
These keys can be as “hidden” as the patchwork of clouds above a plane, the remarkable religious dance of twigs, the animal patience of parked cars, or the frost that melts away with dawn’s first breath.
Symbols that we insist must be found in dreams are suddenly found in the objects around you. Of course, you first need to look for them as symbols and not solely as physical objects. It all depends upon how you create and then dance with the landscape that exists right before your five senses.
But once you begin to “interpret” your daily experiences as if they were dream content, an expansive inner awareness percolates with or without words. It may rumble or splash as feelings beyond expression proclaiming that everybody is a hero in progress- innately good, loving and compassionate.
The poems herein are in chronological order, but without the dates exposed-so as not to distract from your reading. I will say that they were written between 1968 and 2006…” (From the Preface of outside is a secret key)
